Consular
Protect and serve U.S. citizens abroad, facilitate legal travel to the U.S. for foreign visitors.
Core Responsibilities
- Adjudicate immigrant and nonimmigrant visa applications
- Provide emergency services and assistance to U.S. citizens abroad
- Process passport and citizenship documentation
- Perform notarial and document authentication services
- Manage consular sections and locally engaged staff at diplomatic posts

Economic
Promote U.S. prosperity, strengthen scientific, energy, health and technological cooperation.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyze and report on host-country economic and trade conditions
- Engage finance ministries, central banks, and international organizations
- Advocate for U.S. trade, investment, and commercial interests
- Support U.S. businesses seeking access to foreign markets
- Coordinate with Treasury, Commerce, and other U.S. agencies abroad

Management
Lead embassy operations from logistics and staffing to property and budget.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee human resources, payroll, and personnel management
- Manage embassy finances, procurement, and contracting
- Administer facilities, housing, and property at diplomatic posts
- Supervise information management and communications systems
- Coordinate logistics for official visits and mission operations

Political
Analyze current events, advocate for U.S. policy positions, and manage programs.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyze and report on political and security developments
- Maintain relationships with host-government officials and legislators
- Engage opposition parties, civil society, and media organizations
- Prepare briefings and cables on bilateral and multilateral issues
- Represent U.S. policy positions in meetings and negotiations

Public Diplomacy
Connect with global audiences to build mutual understanding and support for U.S. policy.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage educational and cultural exchange programs
- Oversee American cultural centers and information programs
- Engage local media, journalists, and communications platforms
- Coordinate speaker programs and official public communications
- Advise the Ambassador on the media, cultural, and educational climate
